Afzelia xylocarpa is a deciduous tree with a broad, rounded crown, usually growing 45- 91 feet tall ,with some trees reaching 131 feet  tall ,the bole of the tree is sometimes curved and is highly valuable die to the size it can be 35 – 58 inches in diameter, often with a large buttresses.

The tree is very costly and highly sought after by timber buyers and criminals to harvest , and has been widely exploited from the jungles of Cambodia to near extinction. It is only available now in very small amounts due to the limited number of trees; the price of the very smallest amounts is  in the high dollar price bracket.

It is cultivated in gardens in southern China for medicinal purposes and is also grown on a small scale for the utilization of its wood[

Due to the loss of 60% Cambodia Jungles and Forests ,and the illegal harvesting  and bad management of the large trees, it is now hard to find and  this makes it a vital  TREE  for us to Plant.
